Mr.B

Hello Cute Boy,

I didn't forget to write for your birthday Bryce. I've just been busy throwing parties! I like parties but I get a little worn out in February. I kinda botched your and Jacob's birthday party this year. I got busy getting ready for Jake's baptism and having company and we didn't make it to Monkey Business. But you seemed OK to go to U-swirl instead. Grandma and Grandpa met us there. We do tend to have family reunions in odd places. At least it wasn't Sam's Club this time! Uncle Mike brought Arita with him and you introduced yourself as "the brainiac of the family." It's true, you are so good with facts that you teach me something new almost every day! You are so adorable with all the wonderful lego projects. You told us yesterday when you grow up you wanted to design lego toys. You would be amazing at that! I'm excited to find out what you are going to be someday. Whatever you do, you will be wonderful. You are one of the kindest, sweetest boys I know and I'm so lucky to have you as my son! Love you tons and tons!

Little Love Bug

Dear Shaylee,

I love that you are still our Love Bug. Since you were born so cute and small, the day after Valentines Day, the name seemed to fit you so well. Now, you're all huge and ten. I'm not sure how I feel about being old enough to have a ten yr old... But it is really fun to have you as a shopping buddy. We have a lot of fun trying on clothes together. It is weird that we can shop in some of the same places now though (even if you wear the very smallest size).  The other day we were looking at some clothes and you held one up to you and said "Mom, I like this one. Wait, don't you have this shirt?"  I think that means I should be dressing older, but I won't. I like my Roxy T-shirts. They fit my style, or should I say OUR style :) I'll skip on the frilly zebra and hot pink skirts though. Those are all yours babe!

Shaylee you are such a sweetheart and I love you to pieces. Sometimes I say that you are the hardest kid for me to raise but that is because you are sooo like me. Once when Grandma was really mad at me she said, "I hope you have a daughter just like you one day." I think she meant it as a curse at the time but it was really a blessing because I adore you. You have a kind heart and love to take care of animals and mother things. You are beautiful, talented and smart. You are going to be amazing at whatever you choose to do someday and I'm excited to see what the future holds for both of us!

Love you tons and tons,

Mom

Sweet Days

Dear Jacob,

Someday when you're all grown up you'll realize that most days are pretty mundane. You wake up, run through the day and crash at night feeling accomplished but that nothing life changing happened. Then there are the days that shine through your memory like a ray of sunshine in a fog bank. Last weekend was one of those days for me.

I'm so proud that you have chosen to get baptized. You are such an example of love and kindness to everyone who is lucky enough to know you. When you walked in with your dad, dressed in your white clothes my heart swelled up and, despite my best efforts, I cried till my nose ran (it's true).

Grandma and Grandpa Rhino flew all the way to Utah, picked up Aunt Jenny. Then drove to Rexburg and picked up Michael and his girlfriend Arita (I suspect she will be Aunt Arita before too long) and then they drove all the way to our house and could only stay for the baptism and had to leave the next morning. They said it was worth every minute. Grandma and Grandpa Quigley brought the Larsen kids and even Aunt Danielle and Seth came. I think Seth was weirded out a bit but he toughed it out. I think he even liked our house and our family!

As part of the program you kids sang my favorite song "Heavenly Father Loves Me" with Aunt Jenny while Uncle Mike played the piano. I have never heard a more beautiful song in my whole life. That was the song that my friend sang at Colin's funeral and I felt like he was there while you were singing, that just for a minute, all my kids where there celebrating this happy moment together.

Jacob, I love you with all my heart. You are more amazing than you will probably ever realize. I am so, so blessed to be your mom. There is nothing in the world I want to be more.

Loving you forever and ever!!

Grosser than gross (is grosser a word??)

After following a suspicious smell in our daughter's room, Paxton found a pound of hamberger that had been left in there for THREE DAYS by another sibling. My house is very neat and clean so that is beyond disgusting.

LOL

Random thought late last night: If money is so dirty does anyone ever clean it? And if they did, would it be money laundering?  (that thought totally made me laugh out loud when I was all by myself; till I snorted) At least I'm easily entertained.

Christmas Card 2011

T’was the month before Christmas and all through our town
Despite frigid weather, we’re all smiles and not frowns.
Our family’s in Boise, a great place to be.
We’ve loved hiking and swimming and playing the Wii.

This year we’ve been quite accident prone
And now I have “doc” on speed dial on my phone.
We’re all staying busy with work, soccer, and school
And are happy for time to recharge and refuel.

Shaylee is nine, but thinks she’s sixteen.
She’s in soccer and dance and piano in between.
She loves friends and her school and is really a cutie
And despite all our fears, is becoming a beauty.

Bryce is our wise guy and is sharp as tack.
Be it space or arachnids, he knows all the facts.
In soccer this year, his first goals he scored,
But without Legos and Wii, he is easily bored.

We are loving sweet Jacob, who is fitting right in.
Our family just wasn’t complete without him.
He keeps us all laughing and is really quite funny
And even got a part in the school play, as a bunny!

Avery’s cute and as fearless as ever.
She’s in sparkles and skirts whatever the weather.
She is notoriously cute while doing crazy things,
She climbs and she jumps likes she thinks she has wings!

Paxton started the year in a cast from church ball
Then his shoulder was fixed and got stitches this fall.
Though casts, stitches and wrappings aren’t to his liking
They didn’t stop him from hunting and hiking.

I’m very busy, though some years have been worse
Broken legs, fingers, shoulders, I should be a nurse!
My business is good, I help coach and in school.
Work, play and pray hard is our family rule!

We are now happy and healthy, enjoying the season.
And with all of our fun, think of it’s true reason.
We’re grateful as always for our Savior’s love
And know that our Colin is watching above.

With happy hearts, we sign with our squigglys
Merry Christmas to you,
                                With love, from the Quigley’s
